The VUTC's Festival of One-Act Plays is an Emerging Artists Showcase, we will support the staging of 2 Original One-Act Plays each evening Thursday Oct. 4th, Friday Oct. 5th, and Saturday Oct. 6th . The festival includes a cash prize and an award; for the best emerging playwrights, and actor recognitions, judged by a community panel sponsored by local business's. ​ The venue is the “Snap'd Auditorium” is a marvelous 180 seat performance hall in the Old Town Hall in the heart of Historic Downtown Newmarket. The performance hall was completely re-built, remodeled and opened in October 2016. It offers skilled professional staff in a state-of-the-art technical booth that provides a level of technological excellence few other theatrical performance venues can match. The Very Useful Theatre Company is seeking 6 original One-Act Plays to produce for our second annual Festival, October 4th, 5th & 6th, 2018. The Festival is open to all individual Playwrights, Actor, Directors & Theatre Groups and Companies wishing to stage a One-Act Play supporting emerging talent in York Region.
