Special weather statement in effect for:
- Pickering - Oshawa - Southern Durham Region
- Vaughan - Richmond Hill - Markham
Winter returns with widespread total snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm this afternoon and tonight.
A cold front and associated weak low are expected to move slowly across Southern Ontario today. This frontal zone is forecast to become active and generate appreciable snow in some areas. It will begin this afternoon over portions of the Golden Horseshoe and continue this evening before tapering off later tonight.
While most areas will receive 5 to 10 cm of snow, locally higher amounts of 10 to 15 cm are possible in a few localities.
Motorists and commuters should plan for accumulating snow for the commute later this afternoon and evening. Poor winter driving conditions from low visibility in snow and accumulating snow on untreated roads are expected.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
