Snow impacting the morning commute.
An area of snow associated with a Texas Low pressure area tracking to the south of the Lower Great Lakes has arrived this morning as expected.
While total snowfall amounts from this system will be modest in the 4 to 8 cm range, brief bursts of heavier snow and occasional low visibility in the snow are resulting in poor winter driving conditions and quite the impact on the morning commute.
Motorists should allow much extra time to reach their destination.
Conditions are expected to improve after the snow ends later this morning or early this afternoon.

Special weather statement in effect for:
- Pickering - Oshawa - Southern Durham Region
- Vaughan - Richmond Hill - Markham
Snowfall of 5 to 10 cm expected today.
Snow is expected to begin early this morning in time for the morning commute. General snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are likely by the time the snow tapers off this afternoon. Areas close to the Lake Ontario shoreline may see slightly higher amounts due to extra moisture from the lake.
This snowfall will likely have a significant impact on the morning commute. Motorists should exercise caution and allow extra time to reach their destination due to accumulating snow and lower visibilities in falling snow.
Snow amounts are expected to be below the snowfall warning criteria of 15 cm or more within 12 hours,
The region is on the northwestern edge of a storm system that will mainly affect the American side of the border.
