Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking a suspect and appealing for witnesses following a series of commercial break and enters in the City of Vaughan.
On Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 7:20 a.m., police responded to a commercial plaza in the area of Clark Avenue and Hilda Avenue for reports that businesses had been broken into overnight. Three of the businesses had their front glass doors smashed. Investigators have deemed this to be the point of entry for the suspect.
At this time, based on the evidence, investigators do not believe these incidents to be hate-motivated.
In all three break-ins, the cash registers were targeted by the suspect. The businesses were along the same row in the plaza, in close proximity to one another. Investigators believe these were crimes of opportunity by the suspect.
Video of the incident can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/cNPayVemZJg
The suspect is described as male with an average build. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie under a dark coloured jacket with a colourful pink and red floral pattern on the right shoulder. The jacket also appeared to have two stripes around both biceps and white stripes along the edge of the jacket’s collar. The suspect was also wearing a face mask or bandana.
The suspect was operating a white, four-door sedan which was seen on video surveillance.
