Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have charged a second suspect in relation to a homicide last year.

On Friday, August 9, 2024, at approximately 2:10 p.m., police responded to a residence in the area of Islington Avenue and Kiloran Avenue for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, a man was located in his driveway suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, Jorge-Ivan NAVAS, was transported to a trauma centre where he was pronounced deceased.

A second victim was also located at the scene with minor injuries not as a result of the shots fired.

Investigators learned that two suspects arrived in a stolen, black F-150 pick up truck that has since been recovered.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, investigators charged Bradley JOHNSTON, 33, of the City of Barrie, with First Degree Murder.

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, investigators charged a second suspect in relation to the homicide.

Investigators believe this is a targeted incident and there is no concern for public safety.

The investigation remains ongoing.
