Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in identifying an additional suspect in relation to an ongoing arson investigation.

On Thursday, February 6, 2025 at approximately 11 p.m., police responded to the area of George Street and Davis Drive in Newmarket after receiving a report of a fire. Three suspects forced their way into an autobody shop and used an accelerant to start a fire.

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., police responded to the area of Edward Street and Metcalfe Street in Aurora for the report of an arson. Two suspects broke into an autobody shop and used and accelerant to start a fire. It has since been determined the two incidents are directly related.

Through investigation police had identified and arrested three adults and two youths in connection with the arsons. Investigations have since charged an additional youth, a 17-year-old from the City of Toronto, with Arson, Break and Enter and Disguise with intent.

Investigations are still seeking public assistance in location an additional suspect, DANISH, 37, of the City of Toronto, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The investigation is still ongoing and the incidents are believed to be targeted.
