Update - Suspect for Identification After Online Marketplace Sale Turns Violent in Vaughan

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect following two violent buy-and-sell transactions in the City of Vaughan.

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., two sellers arranged to meet a prospective buyer at what they believed was the buyer’s residence, in the area of Trevor Street and Belview Avenue, to complete the sale of a computer. Upon entering the backyard, the sellers were confronted by the actual homeowner, who told them to leave. During the encounter, the suspect – posing as the buyer – showed what was believed to be a firearm and fled the area on foot without the computer.

In a second incident that same evening, shortly before 10 p.m., a victim met with a supposed buyer for the sale of an expensive computer graphics card at a parking lot in the area of Greenpark Boulevard and Weston Road. During the meeting, an altercation occurred and the victim was struck with a firearm. The suspect fled without obtaining the item.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, Asian
  • Late teens to early 20’s
  • Approximately 5’7” with a thin build
  • Wearing black Nike Tech track suit and white shoes
  • Armed with a silver firearm with a black handle
  • Used the name ‘Jin – Rog 5090 astral’ when posing as a buyer online

Investigators believe pedestrian traffic was present in the area during both incidents and encourage any witnesses, as well as anyone with dashcam footage or video surveillance in the area, to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7445. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or by visiting www.1800222tips.com.
