Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have located and charged a 33-year-old man wanted for Attempted Murder.

On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police were called to a motel in the area of Highway 11 and Canal Road, in the Township of King, for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 24-year-old male victim with gunshot injuries. He was transported to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. At the time, the suspect was not located.

As a result of the shooting, a search warrant was executed in a motel room associated to the suspect and a large quantity of cannabis and other drugs were seized.

On January 3, 2025, an arrest warrant was issued for 33-year-old Andrew Joseph PITRE, of the Township of King.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, investigators located PITRE in a parking lot in the Town of Georgina. He was arrested without incident and charged.

• Careless Use of a Firearm
• Aggravated Assault
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of a Restricted Firearm
• Point Firearm
• Unlicenced Person Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon
• Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Distriubuting
• Unlawfully Possess Substance
• Fail to Attend Court

At the time of this investigation, PITRE was wanted on a Bench Warrant for failing to attend court for previous unrelated charges.
