THREE CHARGED AND STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED IN PROJECT KONA

Investigators from the York Regional Police Integrated Property Crime Task Force (IPCTF) have charged three suspects and recovered stolen property as a result of Project Kona, an investigation into a series of residential break and enters across York Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at approximately 9:25 p.m., a residential break and enter occurred in the area of Bluff Trail and Skyline Tail, in the Township of King. Through investigation the suspects were linked to five additional break and enters as far back as September 2024.

On January 9, 2025, investigators executed four search warrants in the Cities of Vaughan and Toronto and recovered numerous items of jewellery, watches and valuables.

Three suspects were taken into custody and an additional suspect has been identified as Paata VASADZE. A warrant has been issued for his arrest but he has fled the country.

Officers also seized break and enter tools, radio frequency jammers, a wireless signal and camera detector, a firearm and a quantity of substance believed to be Fentanyl.

A list of all charged parties can be found HERE.

York Regional Police are releasing the photos of the charged parties as they believe that there are additional victims and are encouraging them to come forward.

A Dropbox folder has been set up with photos of the items that have not yet been claimed. We are asking anyone who was a victim of a residential break and enter between August to December 2024 to please review the photos and contact police if any of the items are yours. There will be a process to verify ownership before collecting any property.

Images of the stolen property can be found HERE.
