Investigators with the York Regional Police Hate Crime Prevention Unit are investigating the assault of a public transit driver after a hate-motivated incident in Richmond Hill.

On Saturday, May 31, 2025, at approximately 9 p.m., the victim was operating a bus in the area of Bathurst Street and King Road. The suspect made an anti-Black comment and then assaulted the victim by spitting in their face.

Suspect description:

• Male
• 5’10, thin build, approximately 160 Lbs.
• Black curly hair
• Brown eyes
• Full beard
• Wearing a black jacket, a dark green shirt, grey sweat pants and white shoes

The investigation is ongoing.
