Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged one suspect and have issued a warrant for a second, in relation to two tow truck arsons in the Town of Newmarket.
On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., police responded to the report of a vehicle fire in the area of Sandford Street and William Roe Boulevard. One suspect was seen on video surveillance footage, approaching a tow truck parked in the driveway of a residence before using an accelerant to start a fire and fleeing in a nearby waiting vehicle being operated by the second suspect.
On Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at approximately 4:45 a.m., police responded to another report of a vehicle fire in the area of Elgin Street and Jefferson Street. Two suspects approached a tow truck parked a residence and used an accelerant to set the vehicle on fire.
Through investigation police have arrested one suspect and are seeking public assistance in locating a second suspect.
Aaron FAHEY is wanted for arson. Police have been unable to locate him and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Investigators are releasing his image and are appealing to the public for information regarding his whereabouts.
The accused is encouraged to seek legal advice and turn himself in. Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to him may be subject to criminal charges.

At the time of the incident Timothy PERSAUD was on probation for unrelated offences.
