York Regional Police has seized a loaded firearm and charged a man with multiple offences after a traffic stop in the City of Vaughan.
On Saturday, March 29, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers were conducting proactive patrol in the area of Steeles Avenue West and Highway 400. Officers initiated a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver, the officers observed Cannabis readily available. As a result, officers searched the vehicle and occupants.
A male passenger exited the vehicle and, while being searched, he began to resist. He assaulted an officer and attempted to flee from police. The suspect was located and placed under arrest.
With the assistance of the Canine unit, a loaded firearm was also located a short distance away.

At the time of the offence SHAYEED was on a firearms prohibition from an unrelated incident.
The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Cannabis Control Act.
