Flood outlook in effect until February 23

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that warmer weather and heavy rainfall is expected to move through the watershed on February 18. Rainfall amounts of 10-15 mm are predicted on Monday and an additional 10-15 mm on Tuesday and Wednesday. The warmer weather and heavy rain will increase the potential for blockage and ice jams, especially around culverts and bridges. This may result in localized flooding in some areas. Also, the warm temperatures will reduce or eliminate ice cover in our creeks and rivers, resulting in dangerous ice conditions. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses.

The Watersheds Conditions Statement will be in effect until Friday, February 23. For more information please contact Marianne Maertens, P. Eng, Duty Officer at 905-895-1281.
